DESCRIPTION
NPT (National Pipe Thread) dies are cutting tools used to create external tapered threads on pipes and fittings. The NPT standard is widely used in the United States and other countries for piping systems where a tight seal is required.
Taper: NPT threads are tapered with a slope of 1:16 (¾ inch per foot or approximately 1.7899° per side), which allows for the creation of a tight seal through thread engagement.
Thread Angle: The thread angle is 60°.
Sealing: Sealing is achieved through mechanical pressure or the use of sealing materials (e.g., PTFE tape or thread sealant).
Standard: NPT threads are defined by the ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standard.
