The caliper scriber is used for marking or transferring measurements onto a piece. It combines the functions of a caliper and a scriber into a single tool. It consists of two jaws, one of which has a sharp edge used for marking, while the other usually has a measurement scale inscribed. The user can adjust the distance between the jaws to match a specific measurement. Once the desired measurement is set, the scriber's jaw is placed on the workpiece, and the user can mark a line by pressing the sharp edge onto the surface.
